Emotions They Stir, The Sun Is Gone, The Nights Are Long, And I Am Left While The Tears Fall
--"Swing, Swing", The All-American Rejects
one six eight
the water slipping
from the sky but not landing
on the earth below.
at times slick and slow,
falling with vigor tonight
and tonight only.
the water slipping
without behavior, without
mercy, without soul.
at times slick and slow,
sounding endless, empty, and
hollow for tonight.
the water slipping
in that same frigid darkness
for those same reasons.
